Sunny days and balmy evenings were made for drinking tequilas, margaritas and sangria, and where better than in the Mexican atmosphere of Mi Pueblo? With three locations at Venice and Sarasota, this traditional Mexican restaurant group with its well-stocked bars has become a local favorite, mainly because an evening at Mi Pueblo has so much more to offer than just good food.
Authentic Mexican Atmosphere at Mi Pueblo
The moment you step through the wooden doorway the atmosphere will take you back to a traditional Mexican village, recreating happy vacation memories for many! Brightly colored décor and glossy tiles create the atmosphere of an authentic fonda complete with heavy wood furnishings and fancy wrought ironwork.
The distinctive aroma of Mexican spices, herbs and sizzling grilled meats will have you drooling as you peruse the menu. Poblano peppers, cilantro, jalapeno and green onions flavor prawns and seafood dishes while ranchero sauce and melted cheese enhance any steak. Sides of freshly made tortillas, dreamy guacamole, salsa or rice and beans ensure a tasty and satisfying meal.
Those wanting to be a little more adventurous should try some of the house specialties, or should I say especialidades de la Casa. Try the chargrilled marinated chicken breast topped with Chihuahua cheese mushrooms, bell peppers and grilled onions for a taste of Monterey. You can make your own delicious fajitas from Black Angus steak strips and fixings of guacamole, sour cream, pico de gallo guacamole, sautéed onions and peppers folded into fresh soft tortillas. Sabroso!
Quesadillas, tacos and burritos sit side by side on the menu with salads and soups so everyone’s happy. Lunch specials feature a choice of 10 traditional Mexican platos at a set price of $8.75.
Live Entertainment Mexican Style
Live entertainment is of course Mexican style as live Mariachi bands play traditional Mexican songs on select night at each of the venues. Catch up with them on Monday evenings at University Walk Plaza, Tuesday evenings at Palm Plaza on Bee Ridge Road and Wednesday evenings at Brick Yard Plaza in Venice. As well as interacting with the mariachi band, diners can enjoy being serenaded by a Mexican guitar player singing romantic songs of love.
Mi Pueblo also caters for celebrations and events in its beautiful Fiesta Room. It can accommodate up to 50 diners and provides a family atmosphere for birthday parties, business dinners and wedding rehearsal dinners.
Traditional Mexican Festivals that should definitely be celebrated at Mi Pueblo include Mexican Independence Day (September 16th), Cinco de Mayo (May 5th) and Dia de Muertos (Day of the Dead) in early November. Young ladies celebrating their Quinceanera (15th birthday) will also enjoy a birthday celebration to remember at Mi Pueblo.
