Top Mexican Cuisine in Sarasota

Originally only in Woodsocket, Rhode Island, this small chain of restaurants has an attractive menu that is almost as colorful as the food itself! Open 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. (11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday) this authentic Mexican Restaurant, bar, and grill offers delicious Mexican favorites.

The Sarasota Plaza Mexico moved into the former Stonewood Grill on Stickney Point Road just off Siesta Key late in 2017. The premises immediately took on a new look with cactus-leaf chandeliers and vibrant Mexican artworks. Homemade salsa, crisp tortilla chips, and generous portions quickly made a favorable impression on Mexican-loving foodies.

Start your visit with a Signature Margarita – there’s a choice of four sizes and 10 recipes ranging from a Cucumber Margarita with a Sauza Cucumber Chili Tequila base and Citronage Mango Liqueur to the specialty Ocean Blue which has Signature Blue Silver Tequila and Blue Curacao mixed to perfection with Citronage Lime Liqueur. Alternatively, get creative and make your own Margarita concoction with featured flavors.

Tasty Plaza Mexico Menu

Sip your chosen cocktail, beer, rum, or margarita while perusing the menu. All the Mexican favorites are here in one form or another, including Burritos bursting with meat, red sauce and sour cream or served California style topped with cheese dip. Yum! Enchiladas are like you’ve never had before including a Supreme combination of one chicken, one beef, one cheese, and one bean, all topped with chopped iceberg and sour cream.

Browse the salad menu for something a little off the main trail such as avocado mango salad with a choice of chicken, beef, or shrimp. Seafood has its own page, from Camarones al Mojo de Ajo (shrimp in garlic sauce served with rice and guacamole) or perhaps enjoy a mixture of exotic flavors with the Camarones Hawaiianos which includes pineapple sauce, pineapple chunks, shrimp, onions, mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese. Fajitas, tacos, tender mole poblano chicken, and juicy ribeye steaks can all be enjoyed at Plaza Mexico. Even vegetarians get a great choice of dishes while kids get their own mini Mex menu which includes a soft drink.

If you arrive for lunch, there’s a special menu served Monday to Saturday from 11a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Order by name or by number and enjoy their special mixed combos for a great value lunch from $6.95 (April 2018 prices). Round off your meal with a sopapilla, traditional flan, or fried ice cream in true Mexican style.

For those looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience without hopping over to Cancun, Plaza Mexico Restaurant Bar and Grill takes a lot to beat. Smiling service, great food, an extensive menu, and grande portions make this a definite place to try.
