I hope that you are all well and taking care of yourselves and your families. As things continue to rapidly evolve, I realize you may be faced with many new challenges at work and at home. While our day-to-day routines have changed pretty dramatically, it’s important to remember that we can still seek joy, peace, and health.

Perhaps you are reading this from home due to canceled or interrupted travel plans because of Coronavirus COVID-19. I personally canceled two trips to spend time with family over concerns about the risks of traveling. Canceling a vacation you’ve been looking forward to is a tough decision to make, not to mention the financial ramifications involved with doing so. For me, and perhaps many of you, thinking about vacation is an escape from daily anxieties, and boy there are a lot of those right now!

I spend HOURS researching and planning my next vacation, wandering the internet, searching on Pinterest, reading blogs, and review sites before I come up with my itinerary. I’m currently researching and planning a late fall trip to Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic.

Our website MustDo.com and our visitor guides are an excellent resource for those who want a solid list of things to do in Southwest Florida: the best beaches, places to eat, kid’s activities, water sports, tours, and more. Our goal is to do all of the research for you so you can plan your perfect trip without spending hours and days scouring the web–even though you may have hours and days. Things You Can do to Occupy Your Time During Social Distancing

Extra time at home can be a blessing in disguise if you have something to occupy your time. Here are a few suggestions to help you manage your stress and prevent boredom.

Turn off the TV. Put down the phone. Get off the computer. Go outside, breathe the fresh air, and move your body–it will do your mind and body good. The outdoors is still open for business (just remember to practice social distancing)! Take your fur baby for a walk or play in the yard.

Read, do a puzzle, play a game, create some art, play an instrument, sing, video chat or facetime with your loved ones.

With the rapidly, ever-changing, and stressful situation related to COVID-19 Coronavirus, it is important now more than ever to come together as a community. We will get through these uncertain times. Together.

Stay safe and healthy!

P.S. If you are currently visiting family and friends or are on vacation for Spring Break in Naples, Marco Island, Fort Myers, Sanibel, Captiva, or the greater Sarasota area, all of the Southwest Florida brick and mortar chambers of commerce and county visitor centers are temporarily closed to best protect visitors, volunteers, and staff. The good news is, you can call or visit online for questions and updates specific to each destination.

It is important to remember the best resource for COVID-19 specific questions are the CDC and Florida Department of Health.
