A Challenging Course at the Legacy Golf Club in Bradenton

Located at Lakewood Ranch in Bradenton, the Legacy Golf Club boasts an Arnold Palmer designed golf course which was opened in 1997. Beautifully laid out to take full advantage of Florida’s natural features, this public course has plenty of sand and water hazards to test players’ skills to the limit.

If the idea of wide fairways, a par 3 island green, 100 tricky bunkers and undulating greens is your idea of golfer-heaven then the Legacy Golf Club is your nirvana.

The upscale 18-hole championship golf course has excellent layout and design along with golf instruction, a restaurant and pro shop.

Located about 20 miles from the Gulf of Mexico, Legacy Golf Club is within easy reach of most Sarasota tourist destinations.

It is particularly popular in winter with the visiting snowbirds, because of the affordable green fees and lack of annual membership dues. Although affordable, it certainly lacks nothing in the standard of service and challenges posed on the course.

The Arnold Palmer Designed Golf Course

The extensive 7,067-yard course is set among towering old pine trees and graceful live oaks draped with Spanish moss. Areas of open marshland attract many wading birds to this natural setting. Many well-located luxury homes overlook this affordable public golf course, which is known as one of the premier courses in southwest Florida.

Arnold Palmer added his own style and subtle challenges to the course, which at first looks easy with its broad green fairways. Players paying attention to shot placement will be rewarded with level lies and good approach angles while the overconfident player will find sand and water hazards more frequently.

Many players find the first five holes to be among the most challenging of the course so be sure to warm up at the practice range before teeing off.  After hole #5 you can relax a bit and aim for a few birdies. The course plays to a 143 slope from the back tees offering a high degree of challenge for even the most skilled players.

Those who feel they may benefit from some golf instruction can book private lessons with an LPGA professional. The Legacy Golf Club also hosts a number of golf schools and academies along with National Golf Schools and Summer Junior Camps.

The Pro Shop onsite has everything the golfer needs from clubs and drivers to balls and gloves.
