Amateur sand sculpting contest takes place at Siesta Key Beach, south of the pavilion. Free family-friendly event, open to competitors of all ages and skill levels and sponsored by Friends of Sarasota County and Siesta Key Chamber. Come with buckets and shovels in hand and great ideas for your creation. Cash prizes awarded. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. near the yellow lifeguard stand, judging begins at 1 p.m. Awards presented at 2 p.m. Event takes place rain or shine. Call for additional information.
