Visiting Key West via the Key West Ferry

By Susan Finch

Discovering new experiences is part of the thrill of going on a vacation and getting to your destination should be part of the fun. The Key West ferry delivers on both with an inspired ride from Fort Myers Beach or Marco Island and Naples, Florida. Hop on the Key West Express’ jet-powered catamaran to the Southernmost Point of the United States.

The Key West Express ferry travels a smooth 40mph over the Gulf for a sun-drenched ride on the exterior sun decks or a cool and comfortable air-conditioned ride inside.

Seating options on the ferry include couches and reclining airline-style chairs with several flat-screen TVs to keep passengers entertained during the 3 ½ hour trip.

And in case you want to get the party started before you get to Duval Street in Key West, you can sip on beverages from the full-service bar or order up a snack.

Once you dock in Key West, spend the day exploring Duval Street, head to the Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, see the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory, or try one of the many bars and restaurants.

The Key West Ferry Departs From Fort Myers Beach and Marco Island

Conveniently departing from both Fort Myers Beach and Marco Island, the Key West Express ferry offers daily service with boarding times beginning at 7 a.m. and departing at 8 a.m.

The Marco Island location offers seasonal travel, while Fort Myers Beach provides year-round ferry service. Return trip service begins boarding at 4 p.m. (with a 5 p.m. departure) for Marco Island and 5 p.m. (with a 6 p.m. departure) to Fort Myers Beach.

During the off-season, there is a reduced sailing schedule for Fort Myers Beach.

Explore for the day or book a hotel and extend your trip–your ticket is roundtrip, but you are not required to return the same day
