The Naples Players – Your Ticket to the Best Live Theater in Naples, Florida

Wouldn’t a few hours of escaping from your own smattered thoughts feel downright delicious?

Then how about joining in on a live theatre experience. One generally attends a theatre performance because it satisfies: we laugh, we cry, we’re fearful, and when the finale arrives, we share the enormously uplifting feeling of bringing down the house.

When in downtown Naples, Florida whether just passing through or a resident, add the word ‘play’ to your itinerary and spend an enjoyable afternoon or evening with nationally recognized community theatre The Naples Players.

Opening in 1953, TNP have years of learning how to build a convincing set, read an audience and make the theatre experience accessible to everyone in the community as TNP continues to grow and define their culture in new ways.

Shakespeare vs Mary Poppins

No this is not an opportunity to watch a duel. But it is an ideal time to tell you that a theatre group is only as good as its actors. Right?

It helps, but so does having an Executive Artistic Director – Bryce Alexander – a first for The Naples Players. Multi-talented Alexander is also their CEO and in charge of many things including what is sure to be important to you – quality musical and theatrical productions, actor development and season selection. Past offerings include a wide variety: Calendar Girls, An Ideal Husband, The Wedding Singer, Boeing Spatulation and A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder.

Must I Break a Leg?

Well, I wouldn’t because you’ll miss the opportunity for a behind the scenes tour, which includes scenery, costumes (The Cat in the Hat, yes!), dressing rooms (more rouge please) and an entirely too much fun dress rehearsal.

Plus, you could ask about their internships in such areas as props, costumes and sound or their “wellness through the arts” program. Additionally, TNP offers KidzAct classes and performances including Seussical Jr., Newsies Jr., The Drowsy Chaperone and The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon.

Now more season offerings and back to M. Poppins, supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! Jane and Michael Banks catch that umbrella!

The Savannah Sipping Society, a comedy featuring 4 Southern women and let’s just say, many, many Happy Hours.

When We Were Young and Unafraid, writer Sarah Treem, from House of Cards fame, wrote this adult drama set in a B & B on the coast of Washington – thought-provoking.

Something Rotten! the Bottom Brothers write a hit play in the 1590s amidst what is billed as an “outrageous, crowd-pleasing musical farce.”
