Anyone who has a fascination with classic cars will want to visit Muscle Car City in Punta Gorda, Floirda – and never leave! This amazing 99,000 square foot museum is dedicated to American motor history with over 200 vintage cars on display, dating back to the 1950s.
This superb car collection includes muscle cars from the early 1970s, classic cars and even hot rods so there’s something for every motorhead to drool over. Some of the highlights include SS El Caminos, Big Block Impalas, GM Performance Cars, Z-28 Cameros, Pontiac GTOs, Oldsmobile 442s, 396 Cameros, SS Chevelles, and plenty more hot rods and antique motors to create a nostalgic trip down memory lane.
Muscle Car City History
The museum represents a lifetime of love for Rick Treworgy who progressed from pedal cars to motor bikes and old Chevys just as soon as he was legally able to drive. His hobby was restoring old cars for a profit as he built his own private collection of muscle cars over 40 years.
Rick finally realized his dream and bought an abandoned Walmart store before turning his car collection into Muscle Car City. Most of the cars are in pristine running condition and the hot rods span a range of makes and models covering 80 years of speed history.
All these magnificent muscle motors on display are beautifully restored to their former glory. Convertibles, two tone paintwork, outrageous color combinations and front bench seats are all in evidence in this wonderful motor museum which celebrates the 50s, 60s and 70s. Corvette fans will also appreciate the comprehensive collection of cars – including at least one Corvette from every year of manufacture from 1954 to 1975 and several of each series from 1975 to 2006.
Muscle Car Parts and Performance Shop
Once you’ve had your fill of admiring and photographing the cars, next stop should be the Muscle Car, Rod and Performance shop on site. Here’s the place to find a range of restoration parts for enthusiasts to improve or restore their own Muscle Car project. If you have yet to start your own car restoration project, then browse around the Muscle Car Corral and see what dream cars are available for sale.
Slightly less taxing on the credit card are the souvenirs and motor memorabilia in the Gift Store.
It’s a great place to pick up gifts and stocking fillers for motor-mad friends and family. Gifts include clothing, T-shirts and licensed apparel, vintage signs, toys and die cast models and even Harvey Seatbelt purses and jewelry for the ladies. The store also has a range of motor-themed items for the home and garden – it’s certainly not like any other shopping experience!
Muscle Car City Diner – a Trip Down Memory Lane!
You might as well make a day of it and enjoy dining in the retro StingRays Bar & Grill which is a treat for anyone who remembers the 60s.
