Discover Wonder Gardens: A Hidden Gem Near Naples

If you’re visiting Naples, Florida, and looking for a unique, family-friendly attraction, Wonder Gardens in nearby Bonita Springs is a must-see. This charitable zoological park and botanical garden nestled among sprawling banyan trees and plantings overlooking the Imperial River is perfect for all ages.

A Rich History

Established in 1936 by brothers Bill and Lester Piper, Wonder Gardens began as a roadside attraction known as the Bonita Springs Reptile Gardens. Over the years, it evolved into a beloved local institution, showcasing rescued and rehabilitated animals alongside lush tropical gardens. In 2015, the City of Bonita Springs purchased the property to preserve its cultural and historical significance, ensuring its legacy for future generations. Wonder Gardens’ master plan for the future includes major updates to existing attractions and new experiences including (but not limited to!) an animal care center, an elevated tree-to-tree canopy experience, an events building, new aviaries, and more.

Botanical Beauty

Stroll through the gardens and immerse yourself in a tropical paradise. The grounds feature towering banyan trees, vibrant flowering plants, and serene water features. It’s a peaceful retreat that offers a glimpse into Florida’s rich botanical heritage.
